Undertaker & Death Positivity Activist:

I began working as an undertaker in 2016 for the progressive funeral directors The Modern Funeral, whose ethos is focused on challenging the prevailing model of the mainstream capitalist funeral industry, providing family led, bespoke funerals for any budget. The unconventional company structure creates a through line of care that incorporates ceremonial, practical support and body care as part of one holistic service.

Alongside the day to day funeral arranging, I also work as an activist within the ‘death positivity’ movement. Part of the local group Brighton Death Forum, I have been part of a team that has put on a series of community outreach events of talks and performances, engaging members of the local community and leading the conversation around a healthier approach to mortality, including a talk on “Deconstructing the causes of death denial in Western Culture”.

Ritual Arranger:

My diverse experience in venue management, events organisation and production, added to my work as an undertaker and celebrant has given me a skillset that has allowed me the flexibility to accommodate most kinds of ceremonial event. These have included everything from, Pagan funerals, pet funerals, Eurovision parties, same-sex weddings and going-away rituals for when people are moving.
